Students learn about the historical roots of Barcelona: the artistic and religious movements that have shaped it; its architecture and city planning; its political evolution; and the dramatic changes in the make-up of its people, many of whom now come from Spain's former possessions in Latin America, mostly Ecuador, Argentina, and Colombia. Others in number are from Morocco, Pakistan, and Eastern Europe, particularly Romania, Russia and Ukraine. Service Learning in Barcelona participants become good guests and thoughtful observers through immersion learning and life-changing experiences.
